A properly designed, installed, operated, and maintained fire alarm system can mitigate and reduce losses in event of an emergency/ Fire situation in any building like property loss and human life.
The primary motivation for fire alarm system requirements in ‘’Building and Fire safety codes’’ is to provide early notification to building occupants for an escape/exit from the affected area of building, notify the fire service department / Civil Defence for an early response to the fire situation. In hospitals the fire alarm system provides notification to staff for responding to the fire emergency (against evacuating the building). The following module will give a guideline explaining basic features of fire alarm systems and the inspection of these systems. Fire alarm systems also are called “protective signaling systems,” in NFPA documents and other codes and standards.
