 Fire Hose reel and Hydrant systems are part of the specialized equipment used to extinguish fires. Firefighters use these reels for quick connections of fire hoses from their equipment trucks at the site of a blaze. Another kind of fire hose reel is part of the standard safety gear in many buildings. Properly used, fire hose reels prevent water hoses from tangling and allow the hoses to be carried in any direction.

Fire sprinkler systems have the ability to significantly reduce property damage caused by a fire. Fire sprinklers contain a fire in its early stages to minimize property damage. According to the NFPA, “when fire sprinklers were present, fires were kept the room of origin 97 percent of the time.” Contrary to what some may believe, fire sprinkler systems are activated by heat or flames, not smoke. During a fire, only the sprinkler head that is closest to the fire is automatically activated
